Tourist Train

Speedy rail links between central Beijing and the city suburbs are being developed rapidly, and it is now possible to reach the countryside and many tourist attractions that surround the city with ease and in comfort. The Tourist Train has the advantage of being fast, inexpensive and efficient, taking you directly to the desired tourist attractions. By making full use of the extensive railroad resources that surround Beijing, this is an environmentally friendly mode of suburban transport.

Another very important benefit is free travel if you purchase your admission tickets for the attractions prior to setting out on your trip. As for admission tickets for the scenic spots, 20 visitors or more can enjoy a preferential group price: one free ticket is granted to a group of 20. For larger groups a free ticket is granted for each additional group of 10 people. Passengers who buy their admission tickets for the scenic spots at the authorized ticket offices can take the Tourist Trains departing from Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station for free. Depending upon your train number, you can also take the Tourist Train at Pingguoyuan and Qinghuayuan subway stations.

Without admission tickets for the scenic spots, You can purchase the train ticket on that day or in advance in Beijing Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station. You could also buy the train tickets after getting on the trains. If you are a group of 10 or more tourists, you can buy the tickets by telephone 3 to 10 days ahead of time and enjoy the visiting service. The ticket booking hot line: 010-65636733.

There are set times for Tourist Train departures from each railway station in Beijing every day. Train tickets can be purchased in Beijing Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station and other ticket offices authorized by the Ministry of Railways. In summer, there are always temporary Tourist Trains in service to meet the demand.

Comments and Questions

We have accommodations at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, for a Tuesday night in late February. We arrive late in Beijing (around 10:00 p.m.) and are worried we won't be able to get to the wall for our Tuesday night stay. We don't know if it's possible to get there late night, since the buses and trains are no longer running at those hours. Is it possible to do this and if so, how? Or will we have to stay in Beijing and travel to Mutianyu on Wednesday morning?

Do you mean you are arriving in BJ on Tuesday night? If so, I'm afraid it might not be very convenient to get to the hotel. It is suggested you stay one night in downtown area and travel to Mutianyu the next morning.

Hi. From Beijing in December what possibilities by public transport to get to Mutianyu section of Great Wall ?Also any ideas for cute places to visit within three hours? Thanks

Hello Conor. Public transportation is still available. Take express bus route 916 at Dongzhimen and get off at Huairou Bus Station or Huairou North Street. Thereafter, the best way is to rent a car to reach directly with the fare of CNY40-50. For the limited time, you can take cable car with a bird's eye view of the wall. It is great!

I arrive at the pek airport at 12:45am and depart at 10am. Is there any attraction that we can see in January and still make it back in time for our flight? It doesn't matter if we can go inside or not. We looked at sunrises and it rises at 7:30am. My friends and I don't want to just go to a hotel and sleep before our 15 hour flight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, you actually have enough time to see something of the city. U are suggested to visit the Badaling or Mutianyu Great Wall first. Get back in the afternoon and roam around the Tiananmen Square. See the Forbidden City from outside. At night, stroll around Wangfujing Pedestrian Street for relaxation. Then check in hotel and depart the next morning.

Do all trains No.6427 stop at Juyongguan Great Wall? Apparently it is mentioned here but I would need confirmation https://www.beijingtrip.com/transport/jaunt-train.htm
Are they running in December?
Thanks

Oh, the train has stopped operating. To Juyongguan, you may take bus instead: take no. 345 from Deshengmen to Shahe and transfer to Chang68 line to the Great Wall.

Hi,

I land at Beijing Airport (PEK) at 1245AM and have a 13 hour layover. Is it possible to access/experience the forbidden city between 4AM-630AM then the Badaling section of the Great Wall of china before returning to the airport for my 130 departure?

What is the best mode of transportation from the airport to the forbidden city and badaling?

Thank you!

But the Forbidden City is open at 08:30 in the morning, so you can only see it from outside around 04:00-06:30am, during which period it is recommended to enjoy the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Tiananmen Square which is within walking distance to the Forbidden City. To the square, a taxi ride is suggested. For your timing, I suggest you see the Flag Raising Ceremony first and roam around the Tiananmen Square. Then rent a taxi to the Badaling Great Wall. Ask the driver to wait during your visit and the take you to the airport to catch your flight. The round trip cab cost shall be CNY400-500.

Hi, i want to go to Ming Tomb and Great Wall by train, are they near each other? Can i travel to both destination by train? Is there a special all day train ticket for tourist? Thanks

Comparatively, the Badaling Great Wall is close to the Ming Tomb and there is around 25km between the two places.

You can reach Badaling from Beijing city proper by train, but there is no train between Badaling and the Ming Tombs. You are suggested to take a taxi to travel.

Hi, I'm arriving at Beijing Capital airport at 11 pm in July. What's the best way to get to TianAn Rega hotel in Wangfujing?

take the tourist train from Beijing North Railway Station to Badaling. The train runs regularly daily, and can search the schedule at
http://www.beijingtrip.com/china-train/

the train station at Badaling is very close to the entrance of the great wall, and you can walk there.

Hello, can you tell me the fastest option to go from Beijing to Tongli in the waterland and what will it cost. Do I have to make a reservation or should I buy the tickets a few days earlier? Thank you!

Richard :7/28/2013 6:56:15 PM

Tongli is far from Beijing, and the fastest way is to take a High-speed train (5 hours, CNY 553 for a second class seat) or flight (CNY 600 - 800, 2 hours) from Beijing to Shanghai, spend the night in Shanghai and then take a morning bus to visit Tongli.
you should book the train or flight ticket in advance, as for the bus ticket to Tongli, you can book it after you arrive in Shanghai.

Hi I need to travel from Beijing train station to the Badaling hot springs resort to stay there for a week how much would a taxi take or is there an easier way.
