Day 01: Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Mutianyu Great Wall and the Bird's Nest

Your guide and driver will come to collect you from your hotel at the appointed time. Today's first stop is the Tiananmen Square, the world's largest city square located in the center of Beijing. Then we walk for a few minutes to the well-known Forbidden City, which lies due north of the Tiananmen Square. The Forbidden City, which is the palace where the imperial families in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1912 AD) once lived, has super achievements on architecture. Besides, it is also a large museum exhibiting the most valuable relics of China. Today, you will follow the guide to learn about the imperial life in ancient China through the architecture and relics.

Next, we will drive for around 1.5 hours to get to the Mutianyu Great Wall, another highlight of this Beijing 2-day tour. With peculiar passes, two-side crenels and dense watch towers, the Mutianyu Great Wall has a significant military value in ancient times. It is the longest section with over 96% vegetation coverage, thus has distinctive scenery in four seasons. Before visiting the Great Wall, you are suggested to have a simple lunch with the guide's recommendations. There are restaurants of simple Chinese foods as well as western fast foods available.
Enjoy your time on the Mutianyu Great Wall
We ensure you at least 2 hours on the Great Wall. There are three ways getting up and down the wall: on foot, a round-way cable car, or a chairlift up and a toboggan down. If on foot, you will climb about 500 mountain steps for 30 minutes each way. The latter two ways cost same additional fees and the guide can help you buy the tickets on the spot. A round trip costs CNY120/US$17 and a single trip costs CNY100/US$14. You can decide the way to go when you arrive. At around 16:00, we will drive back to the downtown Beijing and pass by the Bird's Nest - the Olympic venue halfway. We will make a stop there for you to take photos of this amazing stadium.
Finally we will arrive at the Nanluoguxiang area. Nanluoguxiang is a famous old alleyway filled with featured stores, snack shops, coffee houses and bars. If you want to experience the local nightlife, you may get off to explore this area and then return back on your own. Your guide will show you the directions. If you want to have a rest, your guide will take you to the hotel directly.

Day 02: Visit the Temple of Heaven, the Hutong Alleys, the Lama Temple, and the Summer Palace

In the morning, your guide and driver will pick you up from hotel at about 8:00. First, we will visit the Temple of Heaven, in which the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is the representative building. The royal ceremonies to pray for good yields were held there by the emperors in ancient times. After that, you will experience a rickshaw tour through the old Hutongs, and visit the home of a local family under the company of your guide. Around noon, your guide will leave you with some free time to have lunch leisurely. You will find a number of restaurants and snack bars in Hutongs, and you can choose one to taste local dishes on the guide's advice.

After lunch, we will move forward to the Lama Temple, which is also known as the Harmony and Peace Palace Lamasery. The Lama Temple was the residence of the Emperor Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) when he was the prince. Later, it was converted into the highest-profile Lama temple after Yongzheng's death. You can feel both the magnificence of the royal palaces and the religious solemnity here. Then, we will guide you to visit the Summer Palace, the last stop of your Beijing tour. It is the best classical garden as well as a royal garden in China. You will have a great time to enjoy the fantastic scenery and historical sites inside.
