Historical Sites
Since Beijing was the capital for four dynasties: Jin (1115-1234), Yuan (127-1368), Ming (1368 -1644) and Qing (1644-1911), it has a wealth of historical sites ranging from royal sumptuous private mansions and gardens to simple villages. Also it is stippled with pagodas and religious temples.
Museums
Museums in Beijing are places to get a glimpse of the origin of the Chinese people, the history of China and Chinese culture, including architecture, printing, painting and other aspects.
| Peking Man Site | China Bee Museum |
| Museum of Dabaotai Han Tomb | China Printing Museum |
| Beijing Ancient Architecture Museum | Xu Beihong Museum |

Mountains and Forest Parks
In the west and south of Beijing, mountains offer beautiful natural scenery in a bountiful and gracious manner. Luxuriant trees, tall or short, form many natural forest parks and scenic areas with pure water and fresh air. Really great places to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city and clear one's mind!
Valleys and Gullies, Caves
Due to its mountainous landform, Beijing is riddled with numerous valleys, gullies and gorges in its western area. The brooks trickle through the glens, majestic waterfalls rush down from atop, and bird songs occasionally break the silence of the woods. Caves seem to be playing 'hide-and-seek' while the wonders of nature unfold inside.
Parks & Lakes
Beijing is dotted with many parks and lakes and some parks even feature different themes. Yuyuantan Park is most noted for its cherry blossoms, Zizhuyuan Park is characterized by its various bamboos, while Lianhuachi Park highlights the lotus.
Others
Last but not least, there are also attractions which cater for tourists looking for something different. These scenic spots demonstrate the all-embracing and gentle character of this city.

| Beijing Zoo | Taipingyang Underwater World |
| Beijing Aquarium | Shijinglong Ski Resort |

If you are traveling with kids, you'd better not visit mountains and the great wall, just go to the incity scenic spots.Gem ( China ) :4/13/2010 2:13:00 AM
You should bring your own stroller. There is no such thing as stroller rental in BJ.I want to go to Beijing but it costs too much.

If you want to live in a cheap hostel, you may book a hotel through a travel agency.Angeles ( Barbados ) :3/10/2010 10:13:00 AM
I wish I could go to Beijing instead of being on a stupid Island.I plan to visit China in March 2010 with 2 kids ( 7 yr and 3 yr ).
1) Would Ming Tombs, Summer Palace, & outside Olympic Village
be places to go with Kids.
2) Wanted to know if they rent strollers for kids at these sites or should I get my own.
3) If these places are not kids-friendly then can you suggest any other full day/ half day sites which can be covered with kids.
Thank you .

There will be a large drop of temperature before the Spring Festival, but it is still uncertain whether the temperaure will rise during the festival. So I advise you visit the great wall later. We are planning to be in Beijing 19-23 February 2010. Will the Pearl market be open due to Chinese New Years?

1. Whether Holiday Inn at Downtown Beijing is a good place to stay?
2. What will be the weather like? Any heavy jackets/pull overs/gloves would be required?
3. Are local sim-cards available freely at the airport or downtown? If so, what are the formalities to issue a simcard.
4. Where would you advise the kids (40 of them - all around 12-14 years) to visit in 5 days in Beijing?
Thanks.

1. It is a 4-star hotel.2. It will be warm in March in beijing, heavy jacket and gloves will be unnecessary. However, there will be cloud, so a short overcoat will be needed.
3. As for the sim-cards, sorry that I'm not sure.
4. First, I think the Great Wall is worth visiting. Summer Palace, Forbidden city are also good.
In my opinion, your daugther and her classmates should take part in a tour.
