Yougushentan Natural Scenic Area

Yougushentan Natural Scenic Area is located at the southern foot of Yunmengshan National Forest Park, to the north of Duanshuling Village, Huaibei Town, Huairou District, about 75 kilometers (46.6 miles) from downtown Beijing. Among the verdant hills and green waters, the scenic area is famous for its mystery, uniqueness, quietness and beauty, and enjoys the reputation of 'Natural Oxygen Bar'.

Owing to its wonderful scenery, unusual mountains, rich mineral springs and beautiful legends, the scenic area attracts numerous tourists from home and abroad every year. There are green hills with unique peeks, oddly-shaped rocks and steep cliffs, luxuriant trees and grass, dainty wildflowers, babbling streams, the natural ponds and waterfalls in this picturesque scenic area. Away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, visitors enjoy not only the extraordinary natural beauty, but also the calligraphy, seal cuttings and pictures engraved in the cliffs.

The breathtaking 'Fly Waterfall' and 'God Pond' are the 'must sees' of the area. At the top of the mountain, there is a natural pond, around 8 meters deep (26 feet). The crystal and glittering water of the pond flows down and crashes onto the steep cliffs, producing loud sounds echoing in the valley. The water sprays fall several meters and gradually form a spectacular waterfall, 50 meter high (164 feet). The fall rushes down the mountain, falling into another pond and creating stunning splash.

This scenic area has excellent service facilities. It is possible to taste the delicious countryside snacks, barbecues and rainbow trout here. All kinds of entertainment activities are available, including karaoke, table tennis, chess, cards and the distinctive campfire party during the evening. In summer, the playing pools and swimming pools of running springs are ready for tourists. Every year, the scenic area is closed from November to March of the following year.
