Timetable of Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay Announced

On October 24, 2007, Beijing Olympic Committee announced the timetable of 2008 Olympic torch relay. According to the timetable, the torch relay will begin in Olympia on March 24, 2008.

The torch relay will be transferred to Beijing Olympic Committee on March 30, 2008. From April 1 to May 3, 2008, the torch will be handed on outside China by about 2,380 torchbearers, covering a trip of 97,000 kilometers (60,273 miles).

From May 4 to August 8, 2007, the torch will be passed in 113 cities and regions areas of China. Finally, it will arrive in Beijing on August 6, and be lit up in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympics on August 8.

Compared with the timetable announced in April, 2007, the new schedule has slight change. The Olympic flame will be lit up one day in advance, and the torch will not be passed in Taiwan Province.

Beijing Presenting Visual Feast of Red Leaves

Enjoying the red leaves in autumn is a great pleasure for people living in the capital. From October to the middle of November, the red leaves are more enchanting.

In Beijing, many places are now presenting red leaves in autumn, including the famous Fragrant Hills Park, the magnificent Mutianyu Great Wall, the ancient Hongluo Temple, the bewitching Baiwangshan Forest Park, and the beautiful Xiaolongmen National Forest Park. Besides, there are some other desired places to admire the red maples.

Badaling National Forest Park
The Badaling Forest Park is next to the Badaling Great Wall, and the leaves in the park turn red about half a month earlier than that in the urban Beijing.

Bus Route: No.385 or 937 Zhi 3 (937支3), and get off at Beigong Senlin Gongyuan (Beigong National Forest Park, 北宫国家森林公园).

Mangshan National Forest Park
Admission Fee: CNY 20
Bus Route: No.643 (Andingmen-Jiulong Youleyuan) (安定门-九龙游乐园), and get off at Shisanling Shuiku (十三陵水库), then walk to the Mangshan National Forest Park (蟒山国家森林公园).

2008 Olympic Landscape Sculpture Exhibition Opens in Chicago

On October 24th, the 2008 Olympic Landscape Sculpture started its Chicago tour. This is the 27th leg of the international exhibition and the opening ceremony was held in the square of Chicago's Navy Pier.

As an important international official activity of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this exhibition has aroused strong repercussions among the local people. The Chinese people presented wonderful lion dancing in the opening ceremony.

Beijing: Traditional Temple Fair Start in Miyun County

On October 23rd, the annual traditional temple fair of Gubeikou Town started in Miyun County, and it will last for three days. Stilts dancing, flagpole juggling, lion dance, Chinese paper cutting and other distinctive folk artistic performances will be on display.

Airport Bus Between Beijing Capital Int'l Airport and Wangjing to Opened Up

The airport buses between Beijing Capital International Airport and Wangjing will be officially opened up on October 26th, presently, there will be seven airport bus lines leading to the Capital Airport and Nanyuan Airport.

It is said that the new airport buses run every 30 minutes, and there will be conductors in the buses. Detailed airport bus information:

Beijing Happy Valley to Present Second Happy Halloween

According to the Beijing Happy Valley, the Second Happy Halloween will be held in the valley from October 26th to November 4th. Tourists visiting the park can enjoy various interesting activities and receive special gifts.

The evening performances of the festival will be on at 18:00-21:30, and people can buy the ticket at a price of CNY 60. Tourists who visit the park during the daytime can take part in the evening performances for free. During the festival, four recreational areas will be open to tourists, and about thousands of lanterns made from Halloween pumpkins will decorate the happy avenue. Fanny mask party, lovely spirits, adventurous games, modern music, and other performances will leave you a deep impression!
