Beijing: Yunju Ski Resort Opens

Yunju Ski Resort (?????) was opened to tourists on December 2nd, offering another choice for skiing in the capital. From December 2 to 7, 2007, people visiting the resort can ski for free with the admission tickets.

The Yunju Ski Resort is located in Caijiakou (???), Zhangfang Town (???), Fangshan District, about 60 kilometers (37.3 miles) from urban Beijing. Covering an area of 80 hectares (197.68 acres), it is the largest ski resort in the southwest of Beijing. To its north, there lie the Yunju Temple and the Peking Man Site. After December 7th, more favorable treatment will be given to visitors.

Small Express Trains Appear in Beijing Capital Airport

On December 4, 2007, small express trains appeared in Beijing Capital International Airport. It is said that they will be in service on February 29, 2008 along with the new terminal building.

The human-oriented small trains have no drivers and it is quite safe to take such a train. In next year, they will travel through the Terminal 3A, Terminal 3C and Terminal 3B with a transport of about 4,100 people per hour. It will only take 5 minutes to cover the distance. To save space, the air-conditioned trains only provide seats for the old, weak, sick and disabled.

Flights Between Nanyuan Airport and Qiqihar, Jinzhou & Mianyang to Opened Up

According to China United Airlines, the flights between Nanyuan Airport and Qiqihar (????), between Nanyuan Airport and Jinzhou (??), between Nanyuan Airport and Mianyang (??) will be opened up respectively on December 5th, December 8th, and December 10th.

Beijing Olympic Tickets: Phase 2 Domestic Sale to Restart

According to the BOCOG Ticketing Center, the Phase 2 domestic sale of the 2008 Olympic tickets will restart on December 10th, and last until 17:00 on December 30th.

In this phase, people who can buy the tickets will be drawn by lots after successfully submitting the applications. More than 1,800,000 tickets will be sold to meet the demand and each person can apply for eight tickets at most. People can fill the applications in the official website of the BOCOG (www.tickets.beijing2008.cn), or in the 1,000 authorized outlets of the Bank of China.

The seat number will be allocated in next March, and from June to July, 2008, the tickets printing will be conducted.

Beijing: 22nd Yanqing Ice and Snow Tourism Festival to Start

The 22nd Yanqing Ice and Snow Tourism Festival will raise the curtain in Beijing Yanqing County on December 10, 2007, and last until the end of February, 2008.

Featuring the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the tourism festival will be held in Longqing Gorge, Shijinglong Ski Resort, Badaling Ski Resort, Badaling Great Wall, Badaling Remnant Great Wall, Ancient Cliff House, Xiadu Park (????) and other tourism attractions.

The Longqing Gorge will welcome tourists with beautiful ice lantern show of more than 400 pieces of works. Among them, the 42-meter long (46 yards) grand snow sculpture is especially attractive. Characterized by the theme of 'One World, One Dream', it consists of vivid snow sculptures of the 2008 Olympic Landscape, Olympic Fuwa, Olympic Torch and the Olympic Cities. The 4th International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition is scheduled in the gorge. Tourists can appreciate the performances of Inner Mongolian style and have a taste of the special snacks.

In the Shijinglong Ski Resort and Badaling Ski Resort, skiers can enjoy themselves to their content. Races of climbing the Great Wall will be held in the Badaling Great Wall, and foreigners can gather in the Badaling Hotel and make dumplings. In Xiadu Park, visitors can join in the 30th Beijing Winter Swimming Competition.

Except for many distinctive food and snacks, the folk villages, hotels and restaurants in Yanqing County will also provide various activities, including the campfire parties and fruit-pickings.
