We took the diamond princess to Beijing and as soon as we got outside we were met with taxi driver trying to ask exorbitant prices, with no meters. Because they know they can get away with it due to ppls ignorance (a taxi should cost 30 - 50 yuan at most to the train station) they continue to charge 100 - -500 yuan with NO meter. But if you walk to the Gate, which is to the left of the parking lot, there is a Public bus depot To the leftand it costs I think 3 yuan a person and goes to the train station. We did have a couple of big suitcases but we managed it. Or you could learn the Chinese word for meter and try to insist, or find a taxi with a meter. Also, get a few Chinese words in writing, like, train station, taxi meter, ticket seller, where is the line up,etc. not much English oftentimes. Good luck.

Hi Shayne,
We are also doing what you are doing? Would you like to share a taxi to Beijing?

Nancy :11/9/2012 6:03:21 PM

which train station?
there are a Tanggu Station near the port, and a Tianjian Railway Station far from the port, but both stations have bullet trains to Beijing.
the taxi fare to the Tanggu station is about CNY 70 per cab, and CNY 200 to Tianjian railway station.

Suzy and Adolphe will stay at Novotel Peace Beijing 6-8 Oct 12 and will go to Tanguu by bullet train (C2273) on 8 Oct and then by taxi to International Port to board Voyager of the Seas (Tianjin-Singapore'

It's easy to take a taxi at the exit of the port. The taxi fare is aroudn CNY60.

we arrive in tianjin port with diamond princess on 10th november (4am).Can we take the bullet train with luggages?
Where can we find the long distance bus to go to beijing (always with luggage). I have difficulties to walk.Thank you

Lisa :9/27/2012 6:41:19 PM

hi Ragusa,
the long-distance bus station is quite far from the ferry terminal, so i suggest you take a taxi to the Tanggu railway station, and then take the bullet train (it is ok with luggage) to Beijing.
or you can contact a travel agency for pick-up service.

We are arriving at the port of Beijing China on the 9th October 2012 from the Diamond Princess. (not sure name of port but presume Tianjin)
We don't know China at all but wondered what the best transport is to get to Beijing central Xin Qiao where we are staying at the Novotel Hotel. We are hoping the bullet train might be best and probably best economically. Can anyone advise us on this. Regards

yes,the cruise ship arrives at Tianjin port.
you can take a taxi to Tanggu Railway station, and then take the bullet train to Beijing south railway station.
from the railway station, take the subway line 4 to xuanwumen station, and line 2 to Chongwenmen station. exit from Exit A2, you will find the hotel.

Hi Kate, Thanks for your info. Will check with travel agency for services with other independent company. Unfortunately, Princess only provides package, i.e. one night hotel accomodation plus transfer to Port. We would like to stay 2 to 3 nights in Beijing prior to our cruise.

usually some travel agency provide this service.
i heard the cruise company also provide this kind of shuttle service, maybe you can try to contact the cruise company.

as your hotel is only about 500 meters from the Tianjin Railway Station, you can take bullet train to Beijing South Railway Station, and then take an airport shuttle bus to the Beijing Capical Airport.

I've read that instead of taking a taxi to Tianjin Railway Station, another option is to take Bus No. 103 at the port to Citizen Square (Shi Min Guang Zhang), then take light rail to Tianjin Railway Station to catch the train to Beijing.

1. Where can we take Bus No. 103? Does it stop right at the port? If not, how far do we have to walk, and which direction from the port?

2. Is light rail to Tianjin Station available right at Citizen Square, where we get off Bus No 103?

3. How often are there light rail trains going from Citizen Square to Tianjin Station?

4. How much would the light rail train fare be per person?

5. If the train from Tianjin Railway Station to Beijing takes approximately 30 minutes, how long would the bus ride on Bus No. 103 to Citizen Square, and from Citizen Square light rail to Tianjin Station, take approximately?

Thank you.

Gina :9/5/2012 6:48:35 PM

Hi Rich,
bus No. 103 does not reach the port, and the light rail to Tianjin Railway Station is not open yet, but you can get to the Shiyijing Road station which is less than 2 km from the Tianjin Railway Station.
so the best way from the Tianjin Port is to take a taxi to Donghai Road Station (around CNY 40, 25 min), take the light rail to Jingshiyi Road station (the last station, CNY 9, 40 min), take a taxi or bus or walk to the tianjin railway station, and then take a bullet train to Beijing (CNY 55, 35 min).

Hi, we will be on the Diamond Princess(from Singapore) docking in Tianjin on March 30. Planning to take taxi to Tanggu Rail Station to Beijing. Is it hard to find a taxi at the new International Home port to the train station? Will stay in Beijing for 3 days. Is anyone planning 1 or 2 days tours in Beijing? Thanks.

Thanks!

It is easy to take a taxi from Tianjin port to Tanggu railway station. You can just book a beijing tour through http://www.beijingtrip.com/travel/package/

My wife Sharon and I and our 21 year old daughter are also on the Diamond Princess arriving in Tianjin on Oct 9. We are going on to Beijing to visit our son who is Military Police at the Canadian Embassy. We would be interested in touching base with someone interested in sharing a cab to Tanggu Train Station and comparinggunotes on other travel arrangements

You may make a survey on the cruise ship. Good luck!

We are arriving at Tianjin cruiseport and want to take the train to Beijing. We understand that we should take a taxi from the cruiseport to Tanggu Railway Station.
1. Is it easy to get a taxi from the cruiseport? If yes, how much would it cost approximately and how long will it take to get to Tanggu Station?
2. Can we purchase train tickets at Tanggu, or do we need to make advance reservations (pre-book)?
3. I understand there are no trains from Tanggu to Beijing between 930am to noon. If this is correct, is there an alternative so we don't end up waiting at Tanggu Station for 2-1/2 hours if we miss the 930am train?
THANKS!

George :9/3/2012 7:27:26 PM

1. it will not busy on Oct. 9.
2. 2 hours and around CNY 120 per cab.
3. no, no need to book for both Tanggu and Tainjin.

have a nice trip!

Diane ( Canada ) :9/3/2012 1:02:51 PM

George,
1. Will Oct 9 still be considered busy? I understand that the Chinese national holidays will be over by Oct 7?
2. If we take the taxi from Tianjin port to Tianjin Railway Station, how long will it be and how much will it cost?
3. So, for both Tanggu and Tianjin train tickets, there is no need to book in advance if it is not a public holiday in China?
Thanks!

George :9/2/2012 7:14:49 PM

Yes, there are more trains from Tianjin railway station to Beijing. It takes about 2 hours and costs aroudn CNY120 from Tianjin port to Tianjin railway station by taxi.

Diane ( Canada ) :9/2/2012 6:42:48 PM

George, thanks for the reply.
I understand we can also take a taxi from Tianjin port directly to Tianjin Rail Station and take a bullet train to Beijing, as they have more trains leaving for Beijing than at Tanggu. Is this correct? If yes, how much would the taxi from Tianjin Port to Tianjin Rail Station be, and how long would it take? Thanks again!

George :9/2/2012 6:17:34 PM

1. Yes, there are usually many taxis waiting outside of the Tianjin cruise port. It costs aroudn CNY40 from Tianjin port to Tanggu railway station.

2. If you won't visit Tianjin around the public holidays in China, no need to book the train tickets in advance.

3. Yes, the next train from Tanggu railway station to Beijing after 09:30 am is at 12:04. You may also take a taxi to Tianjin long-distance bus station to take a bus to Beijing if you won't want to wait long at the railway station.

We are arriving in Tiajin on the 9th of October. Which train do we take and to where to get to the Best Western Primiere Royal Phoenix Hotel No.17 Qianliang Hutong, Dongsi North Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China

you can take a taxi to the Tanggu Railway station (around CNY 100), and then take bullet train to Beijing South Railway Station (CNY 60 per person), and a taxi to the hotel (around CNY 30).

We will be transferring from the Renaissance Beijing to the Renaissance Tianjin, and then the next day to the port to pick up a cruise. Sally :7/26/2012 7:16:05 PM

you can take a taxi from the Renaissance Beijing to Beijing South Railway station to take the bullet train, the taxi fare is about CNY 30.
from the Tianjin Railway station, take a taxi to the hotel or a bus No. 13 to Dalu Road Xiao Bai Lou stop and walk southeast along the road for about 140 meters and turn right, you will find the hotel not far from you.
from the hotel, you can walk to the Music Hall (Yin Yue Ting) bus station on Zhejiang Road, and take the bus No. 866 or 963 to Daguangming Bridge stop and take the light rail to the Citizen Square (Shi Min Guang chang) station, and then a bus No, 513 to the port.

the nearest railway station is the Tanggu Railway Station which is about 40 minutes' drive. the taxi fare is around CNY 100.
the bullet trains from Tanggu to Beijing depart at 08:38, 09:24, and 12:04 in the morning.
after you get off the bullet train at Beijing South Railway station, you can take a taxi to the hotel or subway line 4 to Xuanwumen and then line 2 to Chongwenmen station, your hotel is near the Exit A2 of the station.

We will be celebrating our 50th anniversary onboard the Diamond but not before Nov 10 and staying in Beijing for 3 days before the cruise, If anyone has the same schedule, we could team up for the bullet train to the port
