Hi Lisa,

Tq for your reply dated 13.01.2011 refers. The 3 mins and 10 mins walk to Tianenmen & Temple of Heaven is from the Tianenmen East Subway Station or Tianenmen West Subway Station?

Cloudy :3/8/2011 10:39:00 PM

the distance between Tiananmen West and Tiananmen is almost the same as that between Tiananmen east and Tiananmen.
to the temple of Heaven, you need to take subway line 5 to the East Gate of Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan Dong Men 天坛东门)station and exit from Exit A1, you will see the East Gate of the Temple of Heaven.

there's no train from Wangfujing to the Ming Tombs. i suggest you take a one-day tour to the Ming tombs.
see more info here

Our family will be vacationing in Beijing second week in May.
1) What is the weather like that time of year?
2) How do we get to Wangfujing from Jade Palace Hotel using subway only?

Beijing has a pleasant climate in May.
take subway line 10 to Haidian Huangzhuang, then subway line 4 to Xidan, and subway line 1 to Wangfujing, exit from Exit C.

I had been in Beijing in 2008 but thr' tour agent. This March I will be bringing my dad but this time on our own. From the internet info, understand that travel in Beijing by subways are extremely convenient to the tourist spots. My concern is that how many minutes walk from the metro station to these places:-
a) To Forbidden city
b) To Temple of Heaven
c) To Wangfujing
d) To Summer Palace

To go to Badaling Great Wall, we have to take subways then take the 919 bus. Any idea,

a) How many minutes walk from the bus station to the Badaing Great Wall?

You should take bus 120 from Tiananmen east. It takes 3-5 five minutes to walk to the bus stop.

Linda :1/14/2011 8:18:00 PM

You can borad either from Tiananmen East or west, it's up to you. Bus 919 will you take you to the gate of badaling directly. There is a bus every 30 minutes from 06:30 to 18:30.

Hi Lisa,

Cindy ( Malaysia ) :1/13/2011 11:02:00 PM

Hi Lisa,

a)Which is better? Should I aboard from TiannenmenEast or tianenmenwest?

b) How many minutes walk from the 919 bus stand to the badaling great wall?

Many thanks

c) Any idea what is the interval time period for each bus 919 to arrive? Is there any website for the 919 bus time table?

lisa :1/13/2011 8:42:00 PM

You mean from Tiananmen East or Tiananmen west subway station, right? It takes 3 minutes to walk to Forbidden city, about 10 minutes to Temple of heaven, and about 20 minutes to Wangfujing. However, to summer palace, you have to take Bus no. 690 or 120 from Tiananmen. It takes about 2 hours from deshengmen to Badaling by Bus no. 919.

hi there. What is the best way to go to Great Wall if i come from Guomao? Could you please suggest some places to go and how can I go there?

Peter :11/11/2010 9:30:00 PM

which sections of the Great Wall do you want to go? Badaling, Mutianyu or Juyongguan?
i suggest the Badaling Great Wall. it is the most famous section of Chinese Great Wall.
you can take subway line 1 and get off at Tianmen East station and take the one-day tour to Badaling Great Wall. you can also take subway line 1 from Guomao to Jianguomen station, and transfer to Subway line 2 and get off at Jishuitan station and exit from Exit B, and walk to Deshengmen bus stop to take Bus No. 919 to Badaling Great Wall.
if you prefer train, you can take subway line 1 from Guomao to jianguomen station, and transfer to Subway line 2 and get off at Xizhimen station and then exit from Exit A1, and then walk to Beijing North Railway station and take the train to Badaling Great Wall.

My husband and I will be going to Beiging in a couple of months. The subway seems like a good way to get around. We would like to go to Tiananmen Square to see the evening flag lowering ceremony and lights; but we want to ensure that the metro is safe.

Can anyone tell me how safe the metro is at that time of night?

i think it's safe, but you need to make sure you can catch the last metro.

1. you can take Bus No.82 at Donghuamen (Donghua Gate), and get off at the Drum Tower (Gu Lou); walk to Gulou Nan (south Drum Tower) and take Bus No.5 (Interzone), and get off at Deshengmen (Desheng Gate), and take Bus No.919 and get off at Badaling Great Wall.
2. you can take Bus No.802 from Taianmen and get off at East Gongzhufen; walk to north Gongzhufen, and take Bus no.817 and get off at the Summer Palace. or you can take the Subway line 1 at Tiananmen, and get off at Gongzhufen Station; walk to north Gongzhufen, and take Bus No.817 and get off at the Summer Palace. to Tiantan, you can take Bus No.120 at Tiananmen, and get off at Tiantan. the Palace Museum is another name for the Forbidden City.
3. Beihai Park is an Imperial Park, if you have time, you can go there for a visit.
4. for the Kungfu Show, you can refer to this website. http://www.beijingtrip.com/entertainment/monthly-activities.htm
5. 5 days are enough for the above sites, if you have time , you can stay longer and go to more places such as the 'Bird's nest'-the National stadium.

are there any metro stations near the Days Inn Forbidden City? They say sometimes taxi drivers can not easily find this hotel, how can the location be explained for them easier?

Men Dong), and then walk for about 10 minutes. if you want to take a Taxi, you can tell the driver you want to go to the Beijing Xiang Jiang Dai Si Jiu Dian (Days Inn Forbidden City) not far from Tiananmen Square.

We stay at Leo hostel and would like to know how to there with public transport:
1. Badaling and Ming Tomb on the same day
2. Summer palace, or possible to do with bicycle ?

thanks in advance

To Badaling, take BUs No. 5 or No. 820 (inner-loop) to deshengmen, and then change to Bus No. 919.
From Badaling to Ming Tombs, Take Bus No. 919 to Minghuan Waxwork Museum, walk for a distance to Xiguan Huandao East sida, and then take bus No. 314 or Bo. 22 (Changping).
2. To Summer Palace, take bus No. 826 or 726. Since it will take about 2 hours by bus, I don't suggest you go there by bicycle.

Linda :3/18/2010 9:22:00 PM

I think you can take the airport express to Dongzhimen and then change to Subway Line 2 to Chongwenmen. It costs about CNY200 by taxi.

To Badaling Great Wall: Take subway line 2 to Xinjiekou, walk to Deshengmen Bus Station, and then take Bus No. 919 to the Badaling Great Wall.

To Ming Tombs: Take Subway Line 5 to Tiantongyuan, and then change to Bus No. 643(upward.
Bus No.

However, I suggest you take a Beijing Bus Tour to visit Badaling and Ming Tombs in orer to have a enjoyable and smooth travel.

May I ask, if I am staying at the Beijing Continental Grand Hotel near the Olympic Games Village, what is the transport option I can take to go to the Mutianyu Great Wall? Please also tell me the approximate travel time, and whether the place to get off is at the Great Wall entrance or is there a distance to walk to reach the entrance?
Thank you.

You have to go to Dongzhimeng Bus Station by subway or bus firstly, and then Take Bus No. 936 to Mutianyu directly.

I think about one hour or more.

I will go to Beijing next month. Can I buy IC smart card at the airport? Can I use the IC card for airport express train? When I leave Beijing, where I can return the IC card to get the deposit? I heard that I have to wait for 7 days? Is it true?

BeijingTrip.com :9/26/2009 2:32:00 AM

Yes, you can buy the IC smart card at Bus No. 359 Terminal (before 18:00) at the airport. You can use the card for subway, including the airport express train. You can get it at once and do not have to wait. The IC card for short period can be used for only seven days. You can return it at Fuxingmen Metro Station or at the offices of China Citic Bank.

Hello, we arrive at the Beijing train station in January in the middle of the day and wish to make our way to "Days Inn Forbidden City" hotel. Can you advise of the distance if we walk or other options. we would rather not catch a taxi.

From which train station do you want to go to the Days Inn Forbidden City? Beijing Railway Station or Beijing South Railway Station?

Dear Beijing Trip,
We (a family of four) will be visiting Beijing in September. Would appreciate if you could help to answer a few transportation questions:-
- If we arrive at the Beijing Capital Airport at 11pm, can we still take the train/subway to our hotel near Chongwanmen station:
- Can we take the train from Chongwanmen to theh Great Wall; Ming Tomb and Summer Palace or it is better to hire a car?
Kind regards,

BeijingTrip.com :8/10/2009 10:24:00 PM

Thank for your inquiry.

The business hours of Beijing Metro is from 5:00 am to 11:00pm. So taking a taxi should be a fast way from airport to Chongwenmen. But the most economical way is to take the airport bus to Beijing Railway Station and take a taxi to your hotel.

There is no direct bus or metro from Chongwenmen to Badaling. You can go to the Xizhimen by metro and take the S2 line from Beijing North Railway Station to Badaling; to Ming Tomb, you can catch tourist buses from Qianmen or Xuanwumen; to Summer Palace, you can also take a metro to Xizhimen and transfer to a bus. The price for hiring a car to those places could be at least CNY 600.

Thanks for your trust in beijingtrip.com!
