I don't see any trips to Sīmătái 司马台. Are there any tourist bus trips to and from Beijing?

No, there is no tourist bus to this section of Great Wall from BJ.

If i choose route A: Badaling great wall and Ding tomb, and bus departs around 7:00 AM, when will I return to Qianmen? If I want to get back ealier, may i take other route A buses? If not, then how do I get back by other transportation methods?

As I know, it gets back to Beijing around 15:00. If you wanna get back earlier, I'm afraid you have to take other transportation instead of the tourist bus.

I would like to have more information about the Mutianyu tourist bus.
Is it only available on weekends or also from Monday to Friday?
I am travelling to Beijing on July and I would like to go to Mutianyu on a Thursday or Friday (I haven't decide it yet).
I also would like to know if the 95 CNY price per person includes the entrance fee to Mutianyu (which I have read is 45 CNY).
Another important question: The departure time is 8:30. What about the arrival time back in Beijing? How many hours do we have to enjoy Mutianyu on our own?
Next... is this a guided tour? Is a guide included or can we walk free on our own once in Mutianyu?
And last but not least... I understand that the bus does not stop in tourist shops in its way to Mutianyu... isn't it?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Generally, it is safe to travel there, but as some sections of the wall are dangerous, you'd better have yourself accompanied in case.

Juma ( Denmark ) :8/13/2014 9:45:50 PM

Liliwaty, you can see this section Great Wall on your own. Personally, no need to hire a guide.

Liliwaty ( Indonesia ) :8/12/2014 3:08:00 AM

Do we need to hire service guided at Mutianyu or we can walk by our own? I am not really interested with history. Just go there to walk around and take picture only.
Also is it safe for single lady traveller to go there?

Bella ( United Kingdom ) :6/25/2014 3:28:44 AM

I have been to the Mutianyu last year and the current touist bus to the place is the Line 867 from Dongzhime Bus Station every day. The bus leaves at 07:00 and 08:30 and returns at 14:00 nd 16:00. The bus ticket is around 16RMB per person excluding the entrance ticket. This bus line is only available from March 15 to November 15. The bus takes around two hours.

Upon reaching there, you need to hire tour guide on your own, because this bus does not provide the tour guide service.

Anyway, hope you can help a nice trip ~

I'm wondering which is faster: S-train to Badaling Great Wall or Bus 877? I will be putting up at a hotel near Jishuitan Station, which is near the bus-stop.

Hinda ( Kuwait ) :5/29/2014 2:04:12 AM

Oh, then bus no. 877 is faster and more convenient! Bus duration shall be around an hour and S-train takes around 1h and 20min.

For route C to Badaling Great Wall on 27 December 2013, is this a guided tour?

Is there a fix number of hours that is allowed to spend at the Great Wall on this route?

Where and at what time is lunch served?

What time is the last bus back to beijing city?

How do I prebook the tickets?

Thank you

yes, this tour depart daily.
it can be prebooked at the official website of Beijing Hub of Tour Dispatch.
about what you have heard, my suggestion is that you prebook it a few days in advance.

WT :11/20/2013 12:36:09 AM

Is the tour departure on daily basis?
Can it be prebooked online?
I have read about this tour being irregular ie departs only if there are sufficient customers and no advance notice is given if tour is cancelled.what is your view?

WT :11/20/2013 12:31:01 AM

Thank you Susan

Susan :11/14/2013 6:01:09 PM

yes, this is a guided tour.

Hi Jimmy,
the last bus leaves at 10:30, and you will be back Qianmen at around 19:00. you will spend at least 2 hours on the great wall.

In Beijing October 16 -23 and would like to see longqing gorge. Any tour busses for this trip and what is the approximate cost for 2 seniors?

Reply9/1/2013 10:22:18 PMJim ,   United States

Bill :9/2/2013 6:34:12 PM

I'm afraid you have to change your plan.
the tourist bus to Longqing Gorge only runs at weekends and holidays from mid April to early October. so there will be no bus at that time.
in addition, it would be a little cold at Longqing Gorge then.

Hi I want visit the Great Wall during next weekend.Im stay in Beijing.Could you give me more information about the bus price the area to take and time to pickup? Thanks.

Fred :8/28/2013 6:41:47 PM

which section of great wall would like to go?
the tourist bus runs to three sections: Badaling, Mutianyu, and Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall.
the buses to Mutianyu and Huanghuacheng only run at weekends and during holidays between April and October. the buses depart from Xuanwumen (near Exit B1 of Xuanwumen subway station) of Xuanwumen subway station at 08:30.
the buses to Badaling run regularly from 08:30 to 10:30 every morning. the buses leave from Qianmen (near Exit C of Qianmen subway station).
the price is about CNY 100 per person to each attraction.

I am planning on visiting Beijing in October. I would like to ask whether the Tour Bus to Mutianyu Great Wall is always full or only full on certain weekend? because I understand if the bus is not full, the bus will not travel.

October is the travel peak season of Beijing, so the bus will be always full.

hi astrid,
first let help you rearrange your itinerary.
Day 1: is this the day you arrive in Beijing? so you have only half a day? if so, i suggest you visit hte Summer Palace and the Olympic Stadiums.
Day 2: Great Wall (you have to get up early and finish the trip to the wall by noon so that you have enough time for the rest attractions) - Gongwangfu and Nanluoguxiang hutong - Donghuamen night market
Day 3: Tiananmen Square - Forbidden City - Lama Temple - Legend of Kungfu
Day 4: Temple of Heaven - Wangfujing (if there is enough time)

Transportation in Beijing is very conveniet, especially between attractions.
From the airport to your hotel in Qianmen, you can take the subway airport express line to Dongzhimen station, and then change to line 2 to Qianmen station.

Cheryl :4/10/2013 6:02:39 PM

As i told you, Evi,
those attractions require three full day, and fast transfer by private car or tourist bus, also you will have very limited time at each site.
if you want to go all of them by bus or subway , THAT IS IMPOSSIPLE to finish them.
so, my suggestion is that you pick some of the attractions:
day one: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, and Wangfujing for shop;
day two: Badaling Great Wall, Ming Tombs, and night view of Bird Nest and Water Cube.
Day three: Temple of heaven, and Summer Palace.

Cheryl :4/9/2013 6:18:55 PM

the itinerary your friend told you is like those operated by travel agencies, and i don't think it is possible for you to finish them as an individual tourist.

Cheryl :4/8/2013 7:49:36 PM

your hotel is located near the Tiananmen East and Wangfujing subway station, very convenient for you to get around.
as for your three day trip, i suggest you go the Tiananmen and Forbidden City in the first day if you arrive in the mornng and have the whole afternoon. you can walk to the two sites from your hotel.
in the second day, take subway line 1 from Tiananmen East or Wangfujing station to Xidan, and change to line 4 to Xizhimen. leave the station from Exit 1 and walk to Beijing North Railway Station to take the train to Badaling Great Wall.
spend the whole day in the great wall.
when you get back to the Beijing North Railway Station in the afternoon, take subwya line 4 to Ping'anli, and change to line 6 to Nan Luo Gu Xiang station to visit the old hutongs if you still have time and energy.
in the third day, walk north along the hotel's Nanheyan street for about 200 meters to take a bus No.2 for 4 stops to East Gate of Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan Xi Men). leave the temple of Heaven from its east gate and take subway line 5 to Dongdan, where there are many markets for shopping.

Is it possible to cover Badaling Great wall, Ming tomb and summer palace in one day? We, two will be staying at Forbidden city Hotel(5 Nanheyan St). Please suggest in detail to and from journey to these places from hotel. If above 3 places is not possible in a day, then please advice for Badaling wall and Ming tomb.

one day is not enough for the three attractions if you travel by yourselves.
for Badaling and Ming Tombs, you can get a taxi Beijing North Railway Station to catch a 06:12 or 07:58 train to Badaling, which takes only 1.5 hours and costs CNY 6 per person.
from Badaling to the Ming Tombs, there is no direct bus, so you can take a taxi.
to visit the Badaling and Ming Tombs, you can also join in the tour organized by the Beijing Hub of Tourist dispatch. you can find the ticket office at Qianmen, the south end of Tiananmen Square.
to cover all the three attractions, you can tailor make a trip at Beijingtrip.com:
they provide private tour service with professional tour guide and driver.

I have a 20 hours lay over in Beijing and want to see the Great Wall. If I start early around 8am, how long does a typical tour last? I only really care to see the wall - nothing as far as tombs or jade mountains go. Any tips for best form of transportation or tours?

if you start from the airport, my suggestion is to book a one-day tour to the Great Wall, because there are no direct buses to the Great Wall from the airport, and you can only take a taxi (would be expensive) or get to the city to take the tourist bus to the great wall (takes much time). if you book a one-day tour, the travel agency can pick up you at the airport and send you back the airport after the trip.

if you start from the train station or a hotel in the city, it takes at least 4 - 5 hours for a trip to the Great Wall. you can take the tourist train from Beijing North railway station to Badaling which is fast and convenient.

we'll arrive in Beijing South Railway Station around 11am on Apr 7.We'd plan to visit Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace,Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City. Is it possible & how can we go by our own or by tourist tour? we'll come back to our cruise ship around 2pm next day. Please advise, thanks.

Judy :2/7/2013 6:10:22 PM

i don't think it is possible for you to visit all the attractions.
you can visit the Forbidden City in the first afternoon. then the Temple of Heaven the next morning. as the cruise terminal is in Tianjin and a little bit far from downtown Beijing, so you need to leave Beijing by 11am the morning.

you can take subway line 4 from the Beijing South Railway station to Xuanwumen station, and line 2 to Jishuitan Station.
exit from Exit B and walk westward along the Second Ring Road to the Deshengmen. Take the Bus No. 919 near the Deshenmen Arrow Tower. Get off at Guishui North Road South (the 20th stop) and take a bus No. Y06 or Y10 for two stop to the resort.

hi June,
your hotel is quite far from the city center, but close to the Badaling Great Wall.
if you want to visit the Badaling Great Wall, you can just walk southward along the Guishui North Road for about 400 meters and take the bus No. 919 to Badaling Great Wall.
from badaling you can take a bus No. 877 to Deshengmen stop.
walk southward along the Deshengmen Wai street and turn right to the Second Ring Road, walk for about another 500 meters, you will find the Jishuitan Subway Station. take the subway line 2 to Qianmen Station, exit from Exit C and you will find the center 30 meters south.
