 Speedy rail links between central Beijing and the city suburbs are being developed rapidly, and it is now possible to reach the countryside and many tourist attractions that surround the city with ease and in comfort. In the past it has been necessary to travel by road with inevitable delays due to traffic jams, especially at weekends and during holiday periods. Now it is possible to take the Tourist Train, which has the advantage of being fast, inexpensive and efficient, taking you directly to the desired tourist attractions. There are set times for Tourist Train departures from each railway station in Beijing every day. Train tickets can be purchased in Beijing Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station and other ticket offices authorized by the Ministry of Railways. Passengers who buy their admission tickets for the scenic spots at the authorized ticket offices can take the Tourist Trains departing from Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station for free.
